Enso 016: Space Waterfall

by | Apr 30, 2022

This is the latest from my hand-painted collection of art I do in acrylic. This growing collection can be found on OpenSea.

This is titled Enso 016: Space Waterfall. I was inspired by the contrast of the turquois and yellow over the starry black background. When choosing the color of the enso, I pondered for some time on a variety of contrasting colors, but the stroke of black was on the canvas before I knew what I was doing.

Overview of the Enso Hand-Painted Collection

This is from my NFT collection of my hand-painted explorations of the Ensō, as a meditation for my own ADHD. In Zen, “an ensō is a circle that is hand-drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create.” Each piece begins with creative, playful intuition of color. The ensō is typically the final stroke. I am then forced to accept the piece, however it turns out, relieving me of my obsessive perfectionism.

How This Neuro-Art Helps Me With My ADHD

An exercise is self-control, I approached this canvas with so much light and color in my mind. I was close to paralytic ADHD, as I mixed a barely off-black deep grey, so I surprised myself by painting the enso suddenly in a quick stroke. Unsure if I did it correctly, it was all I could do to not add any splatter or strokes to the enso. Also tempted to overdo the gold, I resisted the temptation and allowed the gold to drip in bold, stark symbols of messy richness.
